The next morning felt different.
Not loud different. Not dramatic. Just… softer. Like the air had shifted while I was asleep. I had dozed off on the couch sometime after Luke left, still wrapped in the warmth he’d left behind. My neck ached a little. My heart felt light and heavy at the same time.
