My breath caught the second I saw what was in front of me.

The room was dim, lit only by the lamp on the side table. Shadows moved on the walls. The bed creaked softly. Bodies shifted. Skin flashed in and out of the light.

Professor Hayes was on the bed with another woman.

He was lost in it. Completely unaware of me standing at the door. His focus was on her. On the moment. On everything he had shut me out of earlier that day.
