I leaned against the door, my chest heaving as I listened to Mina's sobs echoing. Suddenly, the crying stopped.
The silence felt heavy and unnatural, then a low, chilling laugh drifted up, a sound so wicked that it made the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
I didn’t walk away, I unlocked it, and yanked the door open.
"What is so funny, Mina?" I demanded, my voice shaking with anger.
