ROOSEVELT’S POV
"Somebody took her."
The words echoed through the phone. Time seemed to freeze, the sun suddenly felt freezing cold.
"Nixie, what are you saying?!" I yelled. My legs gave out beneath me. I hit the concrete driveway hard, scraping my knees. "Who took her?!"
"I don't know!" Nixie cried. Police sirens blared loudly in the background. "We were at the park! She was right next to me on the swings! I turned to throw away a juice box, and when I looked back... she was gone, Rose! A woman said she saw a man put her in a black car!"
