With the howl of the creature ringing in her ears Veronica looks into the pit that they have cleared, and in the torchlight, she can see through the space between two massive rocks. The gleaming bones of a skeleton as it lies in the dirt, they are so near, and now fate has decided to deal them a joker. She steps backward away from the grave that they have opened, and the shouted warning comes too late.
