I rush to the car

Rose's limp body in my arms.

She is bleeding profusely from the head.

"No, no, no," I chant in terror speeding to the hospital.

" Emergency"

Screech to a halt, nurses rush to my side.

"Help her!" I beg desperately.

"Sir, please," a nurse calms gently.

"We need to get her inside."

The doctors swarm into efficient action

Rose disappears into the ICU

I pace outside, anxious.

Full of regret.

Why didn't I just let her go
