WRITER'S POV

After Laura left Derrick's office, she went to Derrick's parents quarters.

“Who are you, miss?” a maidservant asked her after she rang the bell.

“What?” Laura gasped in disbelief. “Miss? Who am I?”

She glanced at herself wondering if she had changed so much that people walked past her without recognizing her. Most of the guards didn't recognize her and questioned her at every point in the house as though she was some intruder. No respect whatsoever, and now she was even being asked who she was. In her parents-in-law's house by some measly maidservant. Well, she was going to put an end to that real soon.
