After a moment, the box stopped shaking, and I tentatively reached forward to open the lid of the box, only for my eyes to widen in shock as I saw that it was completely empty. I looked down at the box, realising that someone had obviously taken the contents away with them when they left.

Why would anyone take the contents of such an innocent box away? It had probably contained some old newspapers or other miscellaneous things that were important to me.
