He waited patiently for his father to speak. He was trying to contain his impatience so that he could hear his father's response to whatever message that he had received from his mother. He wanted to know exactly what his parents were talking about. He hoped that it wasn't anything too serious. They had only recently started to reconcile and he feared what it would mean for the relationship if they broke up. He was afraid that it would destroy everything.
