As we stepped out of the hospital, she hesitated for a moment before turning and heading in the opposite direction, leaving me standing alone on the sidewalk.
"Where are you heading?" I asked, annoyed at how she was wasting my time.
"I'm heading home," she said, standing there and looking at the road, ignoring me.
"Without money or anything on you?" I asked, knowing her signature side bag was in my car.
It appeared that realization finally struck her as she glanced at herself, her expression shifting. How dramatic, I thought to myself.
