Without hesitation, I uttered, "Laura Henry, come to my office promptly?" as soon as she picked up the call.

"Sir?" she uttered upon entering, her tone expectant yet respectful.

"Why the hell did you see fit to tell my dad that I fired that lady over a minor mistake?" I questioned sharply, my hand emphatically clapping against the office table, while I fixed her with a penetrating stare.

"Sir,... he came purposely in search of her," she stuttered, her words trailing off nervously as she struggled to explain the situation.
