"Mark?"
Her voice pierced through the ringing in my ears, thin and laced with a sudden, creeping anxiety.
I was staring at the two pink lines on the white plastic stick, feeling the floor drop out from beneath my feet. My lungs had stopped working. The world had reduced itself to that tiny window of ink, screaming a biological impossibility right into my face.
"Mark, are you not happy with the news?" Zane whispered, her smile faltering. She took a half-step back, her hands dropping slightly. "We're having a baby. Are you not happy?"
