Nora moved closer to me, her voice low.

“Are they back together again?”

I looked at her, not knowing what to say, then back at Lucian. He had noticed me. Without making a scene, he gently removed Sophia’s arm from around his.

“Were they together before?” I asked Nora quietly, still watching him start walking toward us. “Have you seen them together before?”

“No.” She shook her head. “I was just surprised to see her with him again. You know… before she left, before the whole incident happened, she was always around Lucian.”

“I know,” I replied, my voice flat.

Nora studied my face.

“Are you okay?”
