I left her standing there like I didn’t care.

But every step away from her felt like someone was tearing pieces out of my chest. It hurt more than any punch Max had landed on me. I trusted her. Of course I did. Why wouldn’t I? Lily had never given me a reason not to. She was the softest, most honest person I knew. The one who looked at me like I was something worth keeping.

I just hated that she was with him.
