The week before the photoshoot passed in a blur of preparation and panic. Ava, the photographer Nina had recommended, called me two days after I picked up the samples.
"Nina showed me your designs," she said, her voice warm and enthusiastic. "They're stunning. I'd love to work with you."
We met for coffee to discuss the shoot, and I liked her immediately. She was in her early thirties with short dark hair and an easy confidence that made me feel less nervous.
"So you're modeling the pieces yourself?" Ava asked, pulling out her tablet to show me examples of her work.
