The next morning, I called Marcus from Laurent back.

"Hi, Marcus, it's Claire Cross," I said when he answered.

"Ms. Cross, thank you for calling back," Marcus replied warmly.

"I'm available Thursday afternoon," I said. "What time works for you?"

"Three PM?" Marcus suggested. "Our offices are at 530 Fifth Avenue, fifteenth floor."

"I'll be there," I confirmed.

"Excellent," Marcus said. "I look forward to meeting you."

After hanging up, I texted Nina.

Me: Laurent Global wants to meet Thursday at 3. Can you come with me?

Nina: LAURENT GLOBAL?? Are you serious??

Me: Very serious.

Nina: Obviously I'm coming. Do we know what they want?
