Panic flooded through me. "What's wrong?" I asked, my hand on his back.

"My chest," Julian managed to say. "Feels tight."

"Is it your heart?" I asked, fear making my voice sharp.

Julian's face had gone pale, sweat beading on his forehead. "I don't know," he said, his hand still pressed to his chest. "It hurts."

I grabbed my phone from the nightstand. "I'm calling an ambulance," I said.

"No," Julian protested weakly. "I'm fine, it's just stress."

"You're not fine," I said firmly, already dialing 911.

Julian tried to stand but swayed, grabbing the bedpost for support. "Sit down," I commanded, helping him back onto the bed.
