The heavy oak door of the war room clicked shut behind me as I stepped out into the main corridor, and I made sure my voice carried clearly down the hallway as I turned to Jayden and gave him the loud, false instructions that Fantine and I had agreed upon just minutes before.

"Gather four of the senior frontline enforcers and load the heavy tactical trucks near the western gate, Jayden, because we are going to head down to the southern river bridges to check on the damage and we will likely be out there inspecting the perimeter lines until past midnight."
