The room was cloaked in absolute pitch darkness that belied the early evening hour. She had turned of the light earlier because they appeared to be too bright for her eyes.
Tessa stirred awake, her body heavy with the lingering haze of sleep.
She blinked, disoriented, the shadows playing tricks on her perception or so she thought she tried to make sense of the time.
Reaching out, her fingers brushed against the cool surface of the bedside table, seeking the clock. The red digits glowed: 7:12 PM.
A sigh of relief escaped her lips; she hadn’t slept through the night.
Yet, the oppressive darkness outside suggested a storm...
