When I saw the white gauze wrapped around her head, I felt inexplicably blinded.

"What happened last night?"

Of course, I had asked Chris to call me to pick her up, but how could this happen again. I waited all night without getting a message, and the phone was off.

If Kenneth had not told me to have him pick me up early in the morning, I would not have known anything had happened to Chris.

"There was an accident at dinner with friends. Luckily, my uncle saved me." Chris briefly told how it had happened.
