A wave of relief washed over me as I witnessed Emma's recovery. Although her health was on the mend, there was still a mountain of work that lay before me, a daunting task to undo all the damage Mrs Jenkins had inflicted. Thankfully, she was safely locked away, and her ability to cause any more harm diminished. It baffled me how someone could harbour such malicious intentions, especially towards an innocent child. How could anyone want to harm an innocent child and cause countless lives to be lost? The thought left me utterly bewildered.
