His eyes bloodshot and filled with remorse, Mason laboriously spat out another apology.

But the sight wasn’t enough to soothe my anger—nor the overwhelming disappointment.

Releasing him, I rose from my seat and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window. Gazing at the sprawling city below, I asked, “Do you still remember Eric?”
