“What's going on?” Calvin asked me as he saw me fiddling with my phone, so invested without even looking up. I cleared my throat, looking up to him.

“I'm thinking if I should contact my mom, she's always sensitive and it would be good if she didn't reject me.” I said. I wanted to use this to spot Calvin's reaction. If he totally wants me to separate from my family, this could be a red flag. I didn't know, I had to make sure.
