Elliot left his office, his hand gripping his phone tightly as he dialed a particular number again.  

He felt a bit nervous but quickly dismissed the thought.  

She couldn’t have betrayed him, not after everything he had done for her. He immediately cooked up an alibi—maybe she was sleeping or busy.
