Josias gets into Teodoro's building smiling. The landlord is at the counter listening to news of the afternoon, but when he sees the happy boy he decides to ask, “Is this happiness because of shopping?”
“No.” Josias places the bags on the counter. While Teodoro checks out the purchases, he replies, “Happiness for getting it right with Melissa.”
“I said she chose you. Stop worrying.” Teodoro takes the underwear package out of one of the plastic bags, “Ah, now yes!”
Josias chuckles shaking his head, “Yeah; and now I'm going to have to wash them constantly so they don't get dirty.”
“I will teach you how to use one of the washing machines.” Teodoro puts the package in the bag and gives it back to Josias.
“Do you believe that I almost met Everaldo again?” Josias changes the subject, “Apparently he is a human being; he missed the bus like anybody else.”
“Didn't he fly or teleport into the bus?” Teodoro chuckles after the question. Josias laughs too.
Josias goes up the stairs and enters his room. He places the bags on top of the dresser, realizing that he doesn't have a suitable wardrobe to store more clothes that he might want to buy. He sighs, adding calm, one step at a time.
Meanwhile, Melissa knocks on Pamela's door hard and impatiently. She answers, showing indifference in her eyes.
“Yeah?”
“Pamela, we need to talk,” Melissa speaks in a serious tone.
“Come in, friend!” Pamela smiles slightly and makes room for Melissa to pass. Melissa comes in and sits on the couch.
“Yesterday there was a misunderstanding. Josias left thinking that I was offering myself to those guys from Saint Gabriel.”
“Oh, and what did you think of them?” Pamela asks, sitting next to her friend, very excited, barely paying attention to the mention of Josias.
“Pamela, didn't you hear me?” Melissa realizes the flaw, “I don't want to talk about these guys. I came to talk about Josias. He was really upset that you interrupted our conversation.”
“He said that?” Pamela is entitled to be indignant.
“No, he didn't say that in those words; he's a very kind gentleman and he didn't even touch your name.” Melissa emphasizes Josias's qualities to Pamela, “However I managed to get it. And in fact, I told you before that the boys didn't interest me.”
“But, they are hot and have money! They are not upper class, but if you marry one of them...”
“Why don't YOU marry one of them?” Melissa throws the question at close range.
Pamela, receiving the blow, bounces on the sofa, wide-eyed. She was not prepared to make up an excuse.
“Well, my dear,” Pamela clears her throat, “I was so worried about you that I don't even think about me.”
Melissa glares at Pamela, not 100% believing the statement.
“Are you sure, Pamela? How careless of you. You're giving the impression that you decided to get into my life. Look, friend, I appreciate any advice and suggestions from my friends; but, to control the guys I want to meet it's a bit much, don't you think?”
Pamela is no longer talking to Melissa eye to eye. “Yes, I understand, I didn't want to do that. But when Uélton said that Josias's clothes were borrowed and that he appeared out of nowhere in the neighborhood, I was worried.”
It’s a perfect reason to hide the real reason. Melissa did not notice at the time.
“Okay, that puzzled me. When I met him earlier, he was wearing the same clothes as at the party, but he was carrying bags from Downtown stores. That means he bought more. So, he's not sloppy.”
Pamela begins to despair, to take Melissa's hand to try to convey confidence. “I swear to you, my friend, I didn't mean to confuse. Forgive me for the bad impression!”
Melissa smirks. It was a mess of Pamela, involuntary. As she could not prove that the action was on purpose, she decided to give the benefit of the doubt.
“Okay, my friend, let's forget about it!” Melissa opens her smile even more, and the two girls embrace.
However, during the hug, Pamela's face is closed, scowling; and her eyes are showing restrained anger.
After undoing the hug, the two friends say goodbye and Melissa leaves. As soon as Pamela closes the door, the home phone rings. Pamela runs to answer. Some funny ones don't wait and then complain that no one was at home to answer the call.
“Hello?” She starts, answering.
“Hello, do I speak to Pamela?” Male voice.
“It's her. Who's this?” Pamela smiles slightly, she likes to hear a male's voice.
“Fabrício speaks here. I was at the party there yesterday, and your sister passed the phone to my cousin. I talked to a beautiful girl named Melissa, is she really your friend?”
Pamela smiles slyly. Look at her action that is giving results!
“Hello, Fabrício, how nice of you to come back! Look, unfortunately, Melissa just left. She was just here talking about the party and how she liked to meet you. Are you one of the boys from Saint Gabriel?”
“That's right. You introduced her to me. We were talking in an excellent chat, but something happened and she had to leave. I can't get that babe out of my head, but I only have your phone.”
Pamela promptly looks for the phone book on the dresser. “Don't worry! I'm going to give her my phone now. Can you write it down?”
While Pamela passes Melissa's phone to Fabrício, she already imagines herself as Josias's girlfriend.
