"Hasn't she woken up yet?"

"No." The maid yawned heavily with her tray and said somewhat wearily, "I've gone in to check several times, and there's no sign of waking up."

"Go ahead."

Carson nodded, indicating that he knew.

There was nothing missing from the plate, and it looked like Kate still wasn't going to eat.

He had just walked into the house when he smelled a scent, a mixture of roses and lilies, and vaguely of blood.

Carson sighed and went up to take off his clothes and gently draped them over the shoulders of the person already asleep by the bed.
