I didn’t even know what to feel anymore. Everything had happened too fast.

One moment we were in his mansion, the next people wanted me dead, then we jumped through a window and into a portal. Now I was here, sitting in some strange house while Verret stood a few feet away, acting like this was all perfectly normal.

“We’ll do everything together,” he’d said.
