I stayed in my office for the rest of the day. I was sick to my stomach. Several maids came by, but I didn’t eat. My mind spun. I had to think of a way out of this, but no matter how hard I thought, I kept coming back to the same thing.

They were offering me a deal. The council. They wouldn’t hurt Senna if I broke the mate bond. Viktor had said as much.
