Three weeks into staying at the Marrow estate, I stopped expecting locked doors at every turn. That didn’t mean I trusted the place.
The estate ran like a well-oiled machine. Everything was on a time table. The staff appeared at predictable hours, and the meals arrived without me asking for them. The guards rotated in patterns, at the same times, in the same circles. It was very different that Kalev’s estate. It felt more controlled.
I learned quickly everything I needed to know about the estate quickly.
