THE SCREEN DOOR creaked as I tried not to make a sound coming in. With the lights out, the noises were amplified. Even the sound of my parent’s snoring was like thunder. I tiptoed through the foyer and headed right for the couch. A huge part of me wanted to rush into Aiden’s room and take back the apartment over the garage, but it was late, and I’d already been beaten once already.
I pulled the blanket off the back of the couch to drape it over the seat. The feeling of rejection washed over me as I slipped under the blanket and nestled into the couch.
