“Not really.” She bobbed her head. I couldn’t help but laugh as she gave me a little nudge. “But hey, you managed to keep them alive so far, so that’s half the battle.”

“Is that a challenge?” I asked, suddenly feeling defensive. I already noticed the lack of security in the school, but if there were other dangers, I should be aware of them.

“It can be.” She chuckled. “Just this morning, one of my students wanted to taste glue. Another got a paper cut and begged to be sent to the nurse’s office. So, you know, death and destruction everywhere you turn.”
