CHAPTER 40

Stefan sat on the edge of his bed, freshened up and dressed down in a simple shirt and joggers, the glow from his laptop casting soft shadows across his face. His fingers hovered over the keys, but his mind was far from the documents before him.

His thoughts drifted to the conversation he had earlier with the doctor.

“We’ve been trying for years, Stefan. Years. And the kind of response we couldn’t get, happened in just a few minutes today.”
