It was an uneasy feeling that washed over me, seeing Melissa and Hazel talk from a distance. Hazel looked quite mad, and Melissa looked a little shaken.
I strode up to them, and Melissa jumped the moment she noticed my presence. Her eyes flitted around mine, and she turned to Hazel.
“I stayed at a friend's house because…oh, Darius.” She was so unnatural with her words. She already saw me, so why did she turn to Hazel, say something stupid, then turn again like she was just noticing me? “Good morning.”
