CHAPTER ONE
NOAH
“You Noah?”
That’s the first thing I hear when I step into the garage.
I turn fast and see him.
He’s tall. Built like he could lift a car with one hand. Grease on his forearms, black shirt tight across his chest.
I nod. “Yeah. Um… I’m here for the job?”
“You’re late.”
“I—yeah. The bus—”
“Don’t care.”
He turns around without another word and disappears behind a lifted truck. I’m left standing there like a damn idiot with my bag still on my shoulder.
Then another guy walks up—shorter, smiling, chewing gum like he’s got nowhere better to be.
“Don’t mind Silas,” he says....
