The knock came sharp through the silence.
Cael's hand froze.
I moved slowly, pulled his hand free, reached for his shirt from the desk and held it out to him. He took it without a word and slipped it back on, fingers working the buttons quickly. I fixed my belt, straightened my shirt and pulled Cael down onto my lap before he could stand.
He made to get up immediately.
I wrapped my arm around his waist and held him firmly in place.
"Don't move," I said quietly against his ear.
He stilled.
"Come in."
