Chapter 3
Isla woke up before both of them.
The room was grey with early morning light, the curtains not quite meeting in the middle, a thin line of pale gold coming through the gap. She lay still for a moment listening to the quiet, to Zara's slow breathing beside her, to the city outside doing its early morning things.
Then she sat up slowly and found her dress on the floor and pulled it on and picked up her bra and her bag and slipped out of the bedroom without making a sound.
In the living room the wine glasses were still on the coffee table. Three of them....
