He kissed her slowly and thoroughly and she felt the day fall away — the delay and the missed connection and the rescheduled presentation — all of it receding in the specific way things receded when something more immediate arrived.
His hands moved over her — her face, her shoulders, her back — and she pressed against him and felt his warmth and thought about the mathematics of one room left and felt nothing but grateful for them.
