The month was almost up.
Thirty days since Dashiell had last seen Liora. Thirty days of daily reports from Leander. Thirty days of torture.

On day twenty-nine, Leander called.
“We need to talk. All three of us.”
“About?”
“The future. What happens when Atlas comes. How this is going to work.” Leander paused. “I’ve talked to Liora. She’s willing to try. The unconventional thing. If you are.”
Dashiell’s heart stopped. “What?”
“Mother’s suggestion. All of us. Raising Atlas together. Being in Liora’s life together. It’s insane. But it might be the only way no one ends up completely destroyed.”
