I watched Zavian's car pull in, my pulse quickening as the door opened.

He stepped out, his eyes locking on me even from a distance.

It was intense.

"Why does he keep looking at me like..." My words trailed off, my breath hitching as he started walking toward me.

I watched him eat up the distance between us, his long steady strides and the commanding way he carried himself making me nervous.

Why did he look so serious? Did Lucien not take the bait?

He stopped in front of me, his towering presence making me feel small in my chair.

I cleared my throat, my hands fidgeting....
