"Well, what do you think? I've improved a lot more than before, haven't I?" I asked, smiling as I watched him take another bite. I'd spent nearly the entire evening in the kitchen trying to get everything right, and starting over twice when I wasn't satisfied with the taste. Seeing him actually eat without complaining made all that effort feel worth it.

"Yeah," He looked up, his eyes meeting mine briefly. "It's a whole lot better than last time."
