I smiled at his words and accepted the gift. “Thank you.” My voice was gravelly with emotion. I looked at him and thanked him again.
“I don’t want to go back,” I said later as we both looked towards the dormitory.
“Neither do I,” he agreed. “I would have taken you back to my house if your brother hadn’t been around.”
