David left shortly after that. I expected him to insist on staying because Jared was still there, but he left without saying a word.

By the time I went back to the living room, Jared was still asleep. I just wanted to check on him before taking a much-needed shower, and I almost took off my wet clothes when it hit me that he was still soaking wet.
