After fifteen minutes I heard a car pull up, and I glanced out the window to see Paige extricate herself from the back of a sporty little coup, the girl in the front having to get out and fold the seat forward.

Paige pulled out her bags and waved to Kaylin and the other girl, who climbed back into the front seat. I didn't recognize her immediately, so I asked Paige when she came inside.

"In the front seat? That's Dani."

"She's the one who had the pool party, right?"

Paige dropped her bags by the front door. "Yeah. Why?"

"I thought she lived all the way over in Woodlawn...
