The old doctor stroked his goatee thoughtfully. “Maybe you could try Mr. Martin?”

“Mr. Martin? The acupuncturist at New York City General Hospital who’s supposed to be amazing?”

William searched for his memory and could only recall one renowned doctor named Martin.

The old doctor nodded. “Yes. He isn’t as skilled overall as Professor Andrade, but his acupuncture is exceptional. An injury like yours… it’s not impossible for him to fully heal it.”

But William shook his head. “No.”

“Why not?” The doctor frowned. He sensed there was more going on than just a hand injury.
