I can’t hold it in anymore. The tension, the fear of losing Bennis, of my children losing another mother, I need her to stay.

I step out of my bedroom, my heart racing as I walk into the hallway, spotting Bennis from a distance, her packed luggage in hand as she heads towards the door post.

“Bennis, please wait,” I beg, my voice raw, desperate, as I hurry to her sight “Don’t go. I… I need you here, Caleb, and Calvin needs you. We all need you.” I apologize, going down on my knees before her, my shame disappearing underneath the feeling of desperation.
