Deric’s POV

My phone buzzed again. I stared at it from across the hotel room, my gut tightening with every vibration. Another message from Jaxon. The last three had already set my pulse racing.

“She’s missing.”

“Callan’s gone too.”

“Brielle too.”

I crossed the room in two strides, snatching the phone up like it might burn me. The screen was lit with a fresh message.

“Answer me. Now”

Just few days out of office and a lot had happened. I exhaled through my nose and hit dial. It only rang once.

“Deric.” Jaxon’s voice was sharp, hollowed with tension.

“I just saw your texts. What do you mean Elvira’s missing?”...
