Splintered
Jaxon’s POV
I shut the door behind me and just stood there. I couldn’t move. Couldn’t breathe.
She looked at me like I was a stranger. Like I was nothing.
My chest felt like it was caving in. I pressed my back against the door, fists clenched at my sides. The hallway felt too quiet, too empty. I could still hear the sound of her voice telling me to leave. Like it had been carved into me.
Don’t come near me.
I don’t know you.
Please leave.
I squeezed my eyes shut, trying to block it out, but it didn’t work. It was burned in.
Elvira has forgotten me....
