I didn’t sleep. Couldn’t.

Not with everything happening. I was able to convince Carlton, Ava and I left the next day. But I had other things bothering me, my father’s slow dying, the lies stacking so high they were casting shadows I couldn’t step out of. Or was it Callan? How do I even break this heartbreaking news to Jaxon? 

And then I saw it, the email. I hadn’t meant to see it.

Ava’s laptop had been left open on the kitchen counter, screen dimmed, but not locked. I walked past.

Why did she leave this here? I tried to close it then froze.
