“Are you sure you'll be fine alone?" Knox held my hand as I reached for the car door, and I paused.

I turned to him and smiled. "Hmm. I'll be fine.”

His hand lingered on me for a second longer, hesitation crossing his face before he pulled back and nodded.

“Fifteen minutes…” He glanced at his wristwatch. “I'll come in if you're not out after fifteen minutes."

I held his gaze for a moment, then nodded with a smile and stepped out of the car.

“Speed dial me if anything comes up." He looked out through the window and said as I walked away.
