As I was running after Damon, I fell.

“Ouch!” I cried out.

In the blink of an eye, a presence towered above me.

“Can't you be more careful!” a familiar voice growled.

Damon.

“You should watch carefully where you are walking,” he muttered, his face covered in a thick frown as he pulled me up.

My eyes rooted to his face, my chest thumping hard. But he wouldn't look at me.

His jaw hardened and his forehead deeply wrinkled as he stared hard at my slightly bruised and dirty palms.

“It'll heal quickly,” I mumbled, but he ignored me and began to wipe the dirt off.
